MWA has teamed with The Takemusu Aikido Association and Aikido in Kalispell to host Aviv Goldsmith (6th dan – shidoin) the Chief Instructor of Aikido in Fredericksburg, VA. Please join us for an exciting intensive dive with Goldsmith sensei this coming March 20th – 22nd.
Goldsmith began Aikido training in 1975 at the New York Aikikai. In 1986, he began studying Iwama-Style Aikido in Reno, Nevada, with Wolfgang Baumgartner Sensei (7th Dan) and has enjoyed deepening his understanding of this Aikido tradition ever since. In reflecting on his nearly 5 decade journey, he reminisced that “Iwama-style Aikido really made sense and stuck with me more than the other styles that I had previously studied. The teaching methodology and the techniques are precise and easy to assimilate.” He trained annually for nearly 15 years with Saito Morihiro Shihan, 9th dan who had been charged by Aikido’s founder O’Sensei to lead the Iwama dojo and its lineage. Saito shihan personally awarded Goldsmith the second-level weapons mokuroku (teaching certificate).
After serving as Chief Instructor of Reno Aikido Co-op from 1993 to 1999, Goldsmith sensei relocated to Fredericksburg in 2002 to make Aikido a focal point in his life. He is board president of the Takemusu Aikido Association, has presented seminars and workshops throughout the U.S.
This multi-day seminar will be conducted at the Trinity Lutheran School Gymnasium, 495 5th Ave West North, Kalispell, MT 59901.
